How Engineering sees the marketplace
Re-competes and uncertainty
Your work is up for re-compete and you really want to stay with your current mission. You don’t have to know a guy who knows a guy, because you’ll know who has the work and how to reach them.
Your mission if facing budget constraints (fancy way to say “they lost funding and they have to make staffing cuts.”)
You want to know more about what other work is being bid on or how a change in the will Prime effect you.
Out Grown the position
You’ve learned all you can in this gig, a master of Kubernetes and you need a new challenge. If you have joined POP SMOKE your resume will be there and your skills will be known and change will be easy.
You’ve achieved another year of experience and now qualify for a level 2, but the customer can’t afford a rate change.
Get in the pool
Here you can chat with other Engineers. Seek help in technical issues. Learn what’s going on in our industry and learn about opportunities that are available now and new ones being bid on.
How companies see recruiting
It’s expensive to recruit Engineers
Staffing leads come and go and for over 28 years I’ve watched companies reinvent the wheel and always end up with the same idea. The way companies search for qualified technical talent takes too long and costs too much. POP SMOKE will change all of that.
Job fairs are costly! How many Engineers are pulled into an event then compare that to the number of qualified Engineers that come to your event. Now add the cost for the event, advertising, food, rent and the staff/time that it took to pull it all together. That’s a lot of resources!
The place cards along NBP are too small and cars go by too fast, drivers just can’t read them. Plus, nobody wants to be the person trying to cross the street and put them up (or take them down).
National job listing websites are expensive, slow and rarely deliver qualified candidates.
Maybe sitting in Café Joe’s is the cost-effective way to recruit but as long as the line gets the pool of Engineers is just too small.
Companies usually have 30 days to fill a position and after the 30 days, comes the penalties. Who wants that? Get ahead of the problem, show Engineers what work your trying to win. Build that relationship before you have the need.
Here is the change
“One fight, one TEAM!”
In POP SMOKE you’ll have direct access to the community, because you are the community and together, you’ll be one team!
Everyone in POP SMOKE was invited by someone already in POP SMOKE, so they are ‘qualified’ but of course will need to be verified by a company. Engineers will have their, photo and approved resumes updated for viewing. Engineers will also self-identify by LCAT(s).
Companies will be identified by their logo in place of a photo and have access to all of the chat rooms. Companies have the option to stand up their own channel in POP SMOKE where they can present their current and future openings.
